It's one thing to work in Vuescan-generated DNG raw files without needing anything resembling accurate skintones and it's totally something else to try to make skintones accurate in raw processing software after having to manually invert the colour curves and work with half of your controls in reverse. Anyway, these along with the black and whites should be ready to go shortly.

First screenshot was taken about a week ago with rough colour tuning and the second screenshot in the lower half of this image were taken a few minutes ago after manually adjusting colour curves for each image individually. The images are currently outputting to TIFF files for further colour tuning and dust clean up in Photoshop. A computer that typically takes about 2seconds to output a 16bit TIFF from a 24megapixel digital camera takes about 30seconds to output a TIFF from a quarter resolution scan of a 4x5" sheet of film. Final image selections and edits of this actor promo shoot to follow. Subject: Beatrice King. Fashion styling by Erin Monaghan and Cassy Meier. Hair and makeup by the subject. All photographs taken through a Schneider 210mm F/5.6 Symmar-S on a jade green Toyo VX125 onto either Kodak Portra 400 (colour negative) or Ilford FP4+ and processed in Kodak XTOL. Key lighting with a Plume Wafer 100 softbox and a Lighttools 40degree Soft Egg Crate on a Norman D24r-driven IL2500 head. More work lit with the Lighttools CU Focus Soft Egg Crate also on the way.
Also, I'm going to try to update this blog regularly again but no promises on when I'll be publishing blog entries that I've committed to paper! Good bye (and good riddance), IX Webhosting, hello Siteground.
